| Crossbow Hunting / The State Of Georgia. Press Release; Hunters Need to be Familiar With Changes to the 2002-2003, Georgia Deer Hunting Season.
Before fall arrives, Georgia hunters should make note of several changes to the 2002-2003 deer hunting season. Changes to the existing rules reflect recent modifications enacted by Georgia's General Assembly. All of these changes will go into effect at the start of Georgia's deer season beginning in September 2002. These changes reflect comments made by Georgia's sportsmen and women to the Division," says WRD Game Management Chief Todd Holbrook. "Hunters should be sure to become familiar with all changes in the hunting regulations to remain in compliance. Some of the season changes are detailed below. Legal Weapons: The law restricting the use of crossbows has been repealed.
Crossbows are now a legal weapon for hunting game species in Georgia.
Crossbows may be used to hunt deer during the archery, primitive weapons and firearms deer seasons, bear during bear season, turkey during turkey season and small game during small game seasons.
Scopes on crossbows are legal. In addition, the ballistics restriction on handguns for deer hunting has been repealed so they also are considered legal weapons. |
